Terms of Use
Trail Race — last updated: 24 September 2026
Trail Race is an app that helps you prepare trail races. It provides estimates (pace, expected times, nutrition, weather) based on the data you enter: they do not replace medical advice, your own judgment on the ground, or the race organiser's instructions.
1. Purpose
These terms govern the use of the Trail Race iOS app and the trail-race.app website (together, the "Service"), published by Anthony Tournier (the "Publisher"). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept them. If you disagree, do not use the Service.
2. Access and account
- The Service is reserved for people aged at least 15. If you are between 15 and 18, you declare that you use the Service with the consent of your legal guardians.
- An account is required to use the app (e-mail and password, Apple or Google). You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for actions taken from your account.
- You provide accurate information and keep a single account per person.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete my account): your data is erased as described in the privacy policy.
3. The Service and its limits
Trail Race is provided free of charge and "as is". The Publisher works to keep it available but does not guarantee the absence of interruptions or errors, nor the permanence of any feature. The Service may evolve, be suspended or discontinued; should paid features be introduced, they would be subject to specific terms accepted before any purchase.
Some features rely on third-party services (Strava, Apple, Google, Open-Meteo, Supabase) whose availability and terms the Publisher does not control.
4. Warning: health, safety and mountains
Trail running is a demanding physical activity, practised in environments that can be dangerous. By using Trail Race, you acknowledge that:
- race plans, paces and expected times are estimates calculated from your data and the track: they may be inaccurate and do not account for your fitness on the day, terrain conditions, or unforeseen events;
- nutrition and hydration advice is general guidance, sometimes generated automatically. It is not medical or dietary advice. Consult a healthcare professional, especially if you have a medical condition, are undergoing treatment, or have an allergy, and test any strategy in training before a race;
- weather forecasts come from a third-party service and may differ from actual conditions, especially in the mountains;
- live location tracking depends on GPS and network coverage, battery level, and your phone working properly: it can be interrupted or show an outdated position. It is not a safety or rescue device and does not replace the race's own rules or official emergency services (112).
You remain solely responsible for your choices, your preparation, your safety, and compliance with the organiser's rules.
5. Your content
You retain all rights to the content you add (races, GPX tracks, notes, pantry…). You grant the Publisher a limited, free, worldwide licence to host, process and display it for the sole purpose of providing the Service, including on the public pages you enable.
You warrant that you hold the necessary rights to any files you import (for example a GPX track provided by an organiser) and agree not to publish unlawful, abusive content or content that infringes on third-party rights.
6. Public pages and live location
- A race is only visible if you enable its public link. Anyone with the link can then view the page — track, race plan, weather — as well as, if you enable it, your live location. Your notes and your nutrition plan are hidden by default: you choose individually whether to make them visible. Only share the link with people you trust.
- You can disable the page at any time; the previous link stops working within minutes (cache delay).
- Location sharing stops automatically once the finish is detected or the expected window ends, and you can turn it off at any time.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to: bypass its security mechanisms, access other users' data, overload or disrupt the infrastructure, bulk-extract data, or exploit it commercially without the Publisher's written agreement.
8. Strava data
If you link your Strava account, your activities are imported in accordance with Strava's terms. Trail Race displays this data to you alone, publishes nothing on Strava, and deletes imported activities if you disconnect Strava or revoke access from Strava. "Strava" and its logo are trademarks of Strava, Inc.
9. Intellectual property
The app, the website, their name, logo, design and code are the property of the Publisher or its partners. Any unauthorised reproduction or reuse is prohibited. Map backgrounds and geographic data remain the property of their respective authors.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher shall not be liable for indirect damages, nor for the consequences of a decision made on the basis of the Service's estimates (injury, withdrawal, missing a cutoff, dangerous situation…), nor for data loss due to an event beyond its control. Nothing in these terms excludes the Publisher's liability for gross negligence or bodily injury caused by its negligence, nor limits your mandatory consumer rights.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. The Publisher may suspend or delete an account in case of breach of these terms, after informing you unless there is an emergency.
12. Changes
These terms may evolve with the Service. In case of a material change, you will be informed within the app or by e-mail; continuing to use the Service constitutes acceptance of the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first: write to contact@trail-race.app. Consumers residing in the European Union benefit from the protective provisions of their country of residence and may use the European online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
